    Quickly, we addressed the confusion by clearly explaining the cause of the double-counting issue and offering two straightforward solutions. This scenario highlighted the importance of rapid and clear communication in IT support. By immediately clarifying the situation and guiding our customers on how to avoid panic and resolve the issue, we reinforced the value of effective communication in managing and resolving IT challenges efficiently.

    Transparent Communication Minimizes Courtroom Disruptions

    As someone not always the most savvy with technology, I can definitely attest to how important effective communication is during the many IT-related problems that come up in our day-to-day work. Particularly in many legal settings where timing and scheduling can be critical, I find that the most effective thing to do is to speak transparently, openly, and to collaborate on how to keep things moving best.

    Honestly, technology problems are not uncommon in the courtroom. On the flip side, luckily, this also means that there are a handful of different people present with different IT teams that can be called into action. When technical difficulties have come up—I've experienced losing internet connection a handful of times—it's affected my document access, and one time it even happened right before a brief presentation that I was pulling up.

    My first thought is always to be clear and concise and to ensure that everyone involved is avoiding technical jargon so we're better able to be on the same page across the board. A great technique that I utilize from a colleague is to have all IT teams set up to provide an update every 10-15 minutes. This way, everyone present in the room is able to collaborate on how to move forward while working around the technical problems, and minimize the need for disruption and loss of focus.
